Dr Paul Nguyen is a highly experienced Assistant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 10 years of surgical experience. He has assisted on over 20000 procedures with upper limb, lower limb and spinal conditions.
Billing
In most cases, the Surgical Assistant fee will be billed AFTER the procedure.
Private Health Insurance
If you have private health insurance, Paul will bill your private health fund for most of the applicable fee.
The following out of pocket fees will apply in addition and will be invoiced to you separately:
- Minor procedures (e.g. knee arthroscopy, removal of metal) – $75-150
- Major procedures (e.g. primary joint replacement, rotator cuff repair) – $275-$350
- Long / Complex procedures (e.g. revision joint replacement or bilateral) – $500
These out of pocket fees will not be rebatable from your health fund.
Uninsured and N.I.B
If you do not have private health insurance, or are with NIB, the surgical assistant wll be approximately 20% of the surgeon’s total fee.
Medicare will pay a proportion of this fee.
There will be an excess above the Medicare amount which will be out of pocket.
Paul’s billing service will invoice you. Payment should be made to the billing service and a receipt will be provided and can be taken to Medicare so you can claim your rebate.
TAC, WorkCover, DVA
If you are covered through TAC, WorkCover or DVA, my account will be sent directly to the organization, and there will be no out of pocket fee.
