Getting ready for your Hip or Knee Replacement
The Adeney Pre-Admission Orthopaedic clinic is here to support you and provide everything you need to prepare for your surgery and provide a smooth and speedy recovery.
By attending the Orthopaedic Pre-admission Clinic Group Education session, you will:
- Feel confident and informed about what to expect on your day or surgery and post-surgery
- Be introduced to Pre-habilitation exercises by our Physiotherapy team to build strength prior to your surgery and optimise your recovery
- Understand your recovery pathway and the support provided to you when you are at home
Group sessions will be run by a physiotherapist and orthopaedic nurse and will be held weekly every Wednesday at 11am.
Topics covered in the sessions include:
- Understanding your surgery – what to expect before, during and after your surgery
- Preparing for hospital stay
- Pre-habilitation program/exercises & physical recovery
- Rehab-in-the-home program
- Planning for recovery & home preparation
Patients can attend in person at Adeney Private Hospital or join online via Microsoft Teams
What to bring to your Group Education Session
- Notebook or questions you would like to ask
- Glasses / hearing aids (if needed)
- A family member or support person (optional)
